John 16: No Separation
Join me as I read through and reflect on the Gospel of John.
Rejoice, for Jesus has bridged the gap between us and our Heavenly Father!
Rejoice, for He has sent the Spirit to guide us along the way!
Rejoice, for He has overcome the world!
By His work, we have peace when we put our faith in Him. He makes our pain temporary and our joy eternal by turning all earthly sorrow into venues for joy to break through.
The Spirit has come to remind us of this. He tells us the truth that there is now no separation from the Father for those who believe in the Son and put their faith in Him.
Therefore, our fervent prayer should be that truth would abound and fill the minds and hearts of all people.
Lord, make that my daily desire and plea. You promise that the Father will give whatever we ask in your Name. So, may your Name be made known everywhere, Lord. May your kingdom come.
Lord, help me to live in the reality of this victory and to grow more and more in my understanding of the depths of it. May it become my identity as I put to death this worldly one of fear, doubt, selfishness, guilt, and shame. Help me instead to live in your peace, confidence, and joy.
Peace because you love me and have brought me to the Father.
Confidence because you have not left me alone but sent your Spirit to guide me into all truth.
Joy because no sorrow this world could bring my way can separate me from you.
Make this my identity so that nothing gets in the way of you using me to point others to the Lamb of God who takes away our sins.
This is my prayer, Lord. In your mercy, hear it.
Amen
